Having small children is both an immense source of love and an immense responsibility. Days often merge into an endless cycle: feeding, putting children to sleep, cleaning, playing, nighttime wake-ups, explanations, hugs, tears — and somewhere within this whirlwind the feeling of "I am still myself" slowly disappears.
A parent gradually stops feeling like an individual person. Instead, only roles remain: "mother," "father," "teacher," "logistics manager," "nurse," "psychologist." The person with personal needs, boundaries, and energy seems to fade into the background.
Recent studies (2022–2026, including research published in the Journal of Family Psychology, updates to the Parental Burnout Inventory, Frontiers in Psychology, and Maternal and Child Health Journal) show that emotional burnout among parents of children under six occurs two to three times more frequently than among other adults.
Parental burnout is not just fatigue. It often involves chronic emotional exhaustion, a feeling of detachment from one's child, and decreased self-esteem both as a parent and as a person. Many parents blame themselves ("I must be a bad parent") rather than recognizing that they are experiencing a systemic depletion of resources.
Our webinar series provides a calm and supportive environment where we will explore why burnout develops so quickly during the early years of parenting, what neurophysiological and psychological mechanisms are involved, and which small, realistic steps can help gradually restore at least a part of one's personal identity — without sacrificing care for children.
No judgment, no oversimplified advice like "you just need more rest," and no unrealistic ideals of perfect parenting — only understanding and gentle tools for reconnecting with yourself.
